Brisben Water Technologies Receives 13th U.S. Patent for OZONIX(R) Advanced Oxidation Process Technology

Patent Relates Specifically to the Treatment of Coal Gasification Fly Ash

STUART, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 11/02/15 -- Brisben Water (OTCQB: ESPH), a technology development and intellectual property licensing company, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has approved a 13th patent for Brisben Water's revolutionary OZONIX® Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) technology.

On October 27, 2015, the USPTO issued a formal Notice of Allowance for Patent # 9,169,146, which relates to the field of fluid treatment and, in particular, to an improved treatment apparatus for destroying organic and heavy metal contaminants in fluids used in coal gasification processes and conditioning of said fluid for reuse.

The treatment system provides a cost efficient and environmentally friendly process and apparatus for cleaning and recycling fluids as contaminated as coal slurry, as well as other types of fluids having various levels of contaminants such as aerobic and anaerobic bacteria and suspended solids. The volatile organic compounds are reduced to an acceptable level without the use of acids, ion exchange materials, or anti scaling chemicals which is of economical and environmental significance and benefit.

Coal fly ash, also referred to as coal combustion residuals or CCRs, is produced when coal is burned in coal-fired power plants. It is made up of fly ash, bottom ash, boiler slag and flue gas desulfurization material and contains various contaminants such as mercury, cadmium and arsenic. Left untreated, most fly ash is disposed of in landfills and holding ponds where they create further problems for the environment and surrounding communities. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Coal Ash is one of the largest types of industrial waste generated in the United States with an estimated 470 coal-fired electric utilities generating approximately 100 million tons of Coal Ash per year.

"Brisben Water's patented OZONIX® process makes Ozone (O3), a proven disinfection method, much more cost-effective than using it by itself", stated Dennis McGuire, Brisben Water Chairman and CEO. "More importantly, OZONIX® can be transported to the actual site where contamination is and leaves no residual chemistries in the water as opposed to the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) issues associated with transporting and using hazardous chemicals."

McGuire continued, "Brisben Water's business model is to license our environmentally compliant technologies to strategic, well positioned engineering and water treatment companies that wish to address major environmental remediation projects with a patented and proven, Ozone-based Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP). With over 5 billion gallons of water treated to date, OZONIX® is the most cost-effective, environmentally sustainable solution for wastewater treatment applications that contain heavy metals and high microbial loads."
