Marine and Ballast Wastewater Services:

Water disinfection and sterilization

In the marine industry, clean water is critical to sustainable, profitable operations. Brisben Water’s patented, chemical-free Ozonix® water treatment technology is available to help marine operations around the world mitigate risks and protect assets, through cost-effective and environmentally responsible disinfection, oxidation and sterilization of water.

Oxidation of contaminants

Ballast water is believed to be the number one source of aquatic invasive species (AIS) in U.S. waters. Globally, AIS cost business and industries billions of dollars a year, place a tremendous financial burden on local government organizations for control and treatment, and are fueling the rapid decline of biodiversity and the extinction of many native species. The long-term costs are staggering, and regulation is understandably stringent.

Brisben Water’s patented Ozonix® technology is helping the marine industry increase regulatory adherence and reduce costs through the onboard, chemical free treatment of bacteria and aquatic invasive species (AIS); eliminating the need for hazardous chemical biocides.

Process wastewater treatment

From high-pressure cleansing to boiler water, process water is used throughout marine operations, and effective process wastewater treatment is critical to ensuring observance of environmental regulations.

Bacteria, biofilm treatment and control

The untreated buildup of biofilms can cripple systems and threaten profitable operations, and bacteria can pose significant health concerns. Ozonix® is an advanced oxidation process (AOP) that effectively destroys biofilms and offers high volume microbial control, completely oxidizing bacteria and destroying bacteria cell walls, without the need for hazardous chemicals.

Prevention of biofouling, scaling and corrosion

Brisben Water’s cost-effective, chemical-free Ozonix® technology is helping protect both the environment and marine industry assets by effectively combatting scaling, corrosion, and biofouling , while eliminating costly biocides and reducing scale inhibitors needed for corrosion control.

Odor control

Today, odor control has become an increasingly significant consideration for a number of industries. Odor challenges are typically a result of anaerobic (or “septic”) conditions, a breeding ground for sulfate-reducing bacteria. Brisben Water’s chemical-free Ozonix® technology can help marine operations control odors and does this by producing highly reactive hydroxyl radicals (OH-) to cost-effectively destroy bacteria. Hydroxyl radicals are important to water disinfection because they have a high oxidation potential of 2.80V, which is much higher than the most common disinfectants, ozone (2.07 V) and chlorine (1.36 V).

Wastewater pretreatment

Brisben Water’s Ozonix® technology has been proven highly effective in the oil and natural gas industry to eliminateorganics, sulfides, and the food sources that are required for bacteria to survive and thrive, enabling high-volume bacteria destruction. Ozonix® is set to be equally effective in the treatment of wastewater produced by marine operations to remove unwanted pollutants.
